THE HISTORY OF COMMUNITY MONTESSORI
Our school’s philosophy is built on a foundation of total respect of the whole child/teen!
We believe learning happens as a collaborative effort between children and caring adults with purpose
through discovery and dialogue.
A Charter School Program is an innovative public school that provides
an educational program independent of other public schools and districts.
We are a non-profit 501(c)3 educational program governed by a board of community
leaders. Any child in the state of Indiana can attend a Charter School without
paying tuition!
- Community Montessori began in the fall of 1997 as an additional school choice.
- In August 2002 we became a Charter School, having received sponsorship from Ball State University, making us a “free”, independent public school choice for our community.
- Since its inception, Community Montessori has undergone tremendous growth - the original enrollment of 59 students has grown to over 350 students.
- Due to the past rapid growth and future projected growth of 600 students and over 45 staff members by 2010, our “Dream School” will continue to add an age level every year through “high School”.
